98six

Doc and BobbieCome enjoy a cup of coffee and join Dr. John Klema III (Doc) and friends at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings as he teaches the word of God in a clear and expository style. Our time together includes announcements, a time of prayer, and singing a favorite hymn before each weekly study.

Having grown up in a Christian home, Doc has spent most of his life reading and learning the Bible. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a young child. Through the encouragement of his parents and by their example, he began teaching Daily Vacation Bible School, and Good News Clubs as a teenager.

While at Tabor College, he was President of the Christian Fellowship Association, and in charge of campus ministry. He and his wife Bobbie were married in 1979 and together they helped in the youth department at Kansas City Baptist Temple (now Graceway) for seven years; then taught junior church for the next seven years.

At KCBT, they learned and taught the principles and lessons of Discipleship. In 1997, Doc and Bobbie answered the call to help found FBBC. During the first five years of the church’s growth, the Klemas held weekly Bible Studies in their home. After construction of the FBBC building in 2002, Bible studies were moved to the church where Doc taught The Big Picture Bible Series in the Enoch Bible Institute, before starting our 98six class in the fall of 2010.

At his Lee’s Summit Family Medicine practice, Doc enjoys meeting people’s needs both physically and spiritually.

Doc and Bobbie have two grown sons, Mark and Mike.

98six LogoWhat is in the name 98six?

As humans, we have an optimum body temperature of 98.6 degrees. Spiritually, churches and people have an important temperature also. Just as a doctor checks your body temperature, God checks your spiritual temperature. The thermometer logo was naturally chosen to represent the optimum body temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, and to teach us to heed the warning in Revelation 3:15-16 not to be a lukewarm. The passage teaches us that just like the church of Laodicea; the church age in which we live has a temperature problem.

The numeral six (6) is an acronym spelled out to represent the goals of 98six:

  • S – Study the Word of God
  • I – Invest in eternity
  • X – eXercise your faith

The sixth verse of the 98th chapters of the Old Testament, Psalm and New Testament teach us to:

  • Be Clean (Leviticus 8:6)
  • Be Joyful (Psalm 98:6)
  • Be Willing (Acts 9:6)

98six is a praying class that gathers several times during the year to fellowship with one another, as well as a class that serves our church in various ministries. If you love learning the Word of God, singing praises to His name, and fellowshipping with other believers, we invite you to come and visit the 98six class.
