The Struggle Is Real — Women’s Conference

The Struggle Is Real — Women's Conference

I’m sure you’ve heard that phrase before, or even seen the hashtag, #thestruggleisreal.

It’s become somewhat of a “saying” for when we don’t like the ‘minor’ discomfort we are going through, almost making light of true struggles. The fact is, everyone deals with struggles…real struggles, every day of their life. The question is, what are you doing about yours?

Julie Tsoukalas Family pictureSpecial guest speaker, Julie Tsoukalas, will be with us Friday night and Saturday morning. Here is a little bit about her: Julie Tsoukalas will be happily married for 17 years in May to her handsome hubby Jimmy. Together they have three daughters, Tina (15), Kat (14), and Sia (12). Julie loves her life in Zambia working with the Deaf, but admits she doesn’t love the mosquitos! Julie truly believes that laughter is great medicine, and that the Word of God holds all the answers and hope we need for any and every situation. She looks forward to sharing her heart with you at the conference.

The event will be held at the church and included in the conference fee is dinner Friday night, breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

Partnering with IMPACT!

Written by firstbible_admin. Posted in Women's Ministry

Impact someone's life with P, B & J!

Summertime Outreach

Daughters of the King partnered with IMPACT, a local food pantry, to collect food, bibles, and personal care items that are distributed monthly to local families in need.  Donations included 187 food items, 126 toiletries, and 15 bibles.  Thank you to everyone who donated items!

As the school year comes to an end, IMPACT would like to ensure that children are able to have lunches during the summer months.  As an ongoing partnership with IMPACT, Daughters of the King will be hosting a “Peanut Butter ‘n Jelly Drive” to assist IMPACT’s summertime outreach.  Collection dates for the drive will be announced soon.

IMPACT is also looking for volunteers ranging from packing grocery sacks to just visiting with the families that come in.  If you have an interest in partnering with IMPACT through volunteering, please call their office at 816.229.8030.

Saturday mornings (February 15th through March 22nd)

For the adult ladies only, we will be following this breakfast with a 6 week series on Saturday mornings (Feb. 15th – March 22nd) from 9-10:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. We will look at issues such as our own heart, worldly influences that affect us and those we disciple (whether it be our children or anyone else we lead, knowingly or unknowingly), vanity, staying refreshed, and more. With awareness of these things and the proper ammunition through the word of God, we can be armed and ready to keep fighting (and help others to keep fighting) the good fight of faith.

IMPACT Family Resource Center Report

Written by firstbible_admin. Posted in Women's Ministry

Read the letter from IMPACT to Daughters of the KingThe Daughters of the King Ministry had the exciting opportunity to learn about and partner with IMPACT Family Resource Center, located in our own community of Blue Springs. Our hearts were certainly touched and many of us were unaware of the needs of those around us. (Read the letter by clicking on the image to the right.)

IMPACT is a food pantry, diaper center, and clothing center, that provides assistance to approximately 250 families/week. Due to a wonderful outpouring of love through the women in our church, we were able to help fill their shelves with non-perishable food items and personal care items (which they desperately needed). They will use these things in what they call, ‘bags of hope’, given out to needy families right here in our community, at different times each week. We were excited also to be able to collect and donate Bibles, which will be used to minister hope in an eternal way to these same families! The Director of IMPACT, Kim, was overwhelmed and very thankful for our donation, as well as our interest in their ministry, mostly because they rely so much on partnership from individuals, organizations and churches in the community. She truly believes that involvement in this type of work is being the hands and feet of Jesus. This is what we have been called to do according to Acts 1:8, which says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Our community is our Jerusalem and through the power of the Holy Ghost, we desire to touch those in need and share the love and hope of Jesus Christ!
