Living Out the Acts 1:8 Mission Together
God’s Hand at Work
There are many stories in every journey and First Bible Baptist Church in Blue Springs is no different. We recognize each part of the journey that has brought us to where we are as a church today. More than 20 years later, we look forward to where God will lead.
From KC to Eastern Jackson County
The members of First Bible Baptist Church began meeting August 18, 1996, in room 102, at Kansas City Baptist Temple (now Graceway). Rick Johnson, the missions pastor at KCBT at the time, captured a vision. That vision was Eastern Jackson County including Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Grain Valley, Oak Grove, and Odessa. He saw a need for strong, Bible-believing and Bible-teaching churches.
A Home In Blue Springs
First Bible Baptist Church met downstairs in KCBT for several months, conducting its own services, yet within the walls of another church. On February 4, 1997, the church began meeting at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs. On May 4, 1997, Kansas City Baptist Temple officially commissioned First Bible Baptist Church.
Over the next few years, God’s blessing was evident on First Bible Baptist Church. In 1999, FBBC purchased 25 acres of land, on a hill, overlooking a prime thoroughfare in Blue Springs. The church broke ground on the land to begin construction in July of 2001 and opened its doors in June of the following year. Since then, God has continued to bless our ministry and church family in ways we cannot even measure. What a journey this has been … and it’s really just beginning!
