Our Journey

There are many stories in every journey and First Bible Baptist Church in Blue Springs is no different. We recognize each part of the journey that has brought us to where we are as a church today. Fifteen years later, we look forward to where God will lead.

From Kansas City to Eastern Jackson County

The members of First Bible Baptist Church began meeting August 18, 1996 in room 102 at Kansas City Baptist Temple. Rick Johnson, the missions pastor at KCBT at the time, captured a vision. That vision was Eastern Jackson County including Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Grain Valley, Oak Grove, and Odessa. Rick Johnson looked out over Eastern Jackson County and perceived a need. That need was for strong, Bible believing and teaching churches.

Blue Springs It Is!

FBBC met downstairs in KCBT for several months, conducting its own services, yet within the walls of another church. On February 4, 1997, First Bible Baptist Church began meeting at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs. On May 4, 1997, the Kansas City Baptist Temple officially commissioned First Bible Baptist Church.

Over the past few years, God has continued to bless First Bible Baptist Church. In 1999, FBBC purchased 25 acres of land on a prime thoroughfare in Blue Springs. The church broke ground on the land to begin construction in July of 2001 and opened it’s doors in June 2002. It functions not only as a place of worship, but as a place of fellowship and encouragement where the family can be drawn together.

In 2010, we added a new wing that housed Faith Place, our children’s ministry, the new Fellowship Hall, additional classrooms and a new café.

A New Beginning

As our church heads into our fifteenth year in Blue Springs, we are embarking on an exciting new journey. We will be celebrating the future God has in store for our church and its mission. Exciting times of growth and abundance are ahead for First Bible.

We will be building a new addition to house our Bridge Student Ministries. It continues our desire to invest in the future of our church and community — youth!
