Living Out the Acts 1:8 Mission Together

Corporate Prayer Life

In the Bible, we are told, “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42.) At First Bible we desire to know God’s presence and experience His power working in, among and through us. We want to be all that He intends us to be as He empowers us to serve and shape our community. Our belief is that God works this way in response to His people when they embrace a persevering, kingdom-focused prayer.

Investors Prayer Group

Praying for the Church Body

Our Investors Sunday Group ministers to the people of First Bible by praying diligently for the requests received at our Sunday gatherings. They receive weekly emails with prayer requests and scripture to guide them as they pray for our church and community. Also, as called on in Hebrews 13:17, this group seeks to respond to the urgent call to pray for our leaders “…for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account…”

Missions Prayer Group

Praying for Missionaries

Each Sunday morning at 8a in the Café, people gather to hold up the arms of the missionaries we support. Although the financial support from the generous people of our church means so much to the success of each missionary, the prayer support means even more. Join a faithful group of God’s family as we endeavor to lend strong partnership in the Acts 1:8 mission for those who have surrendered all.

Strategic Prayer Areas for First Bible

As an expression of our desire to be a church committed to personal and corporate prayer, we encourage you to pray for the following items that the Holy Spirit has impressed upon our leadership:

  • Ask God to richly bless our church with an experience of His presence and power transforming and empowering us to love and serve in extraordinary ways.
  • Pray for those living in the surrounding communities who do not know the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ask God to lead people to a place of considering Jesus Christ and entrusting their lives to Him. Pray that they might be brought into the fellowship and ministry of His church.
  • Ask God to make our church a benevolent and beneficial presence that positively contributes to the well-being of the people in Blue Springs.
  • Ask God to give our people boldness and depth in our commitments to personal and communal prayers.
  • Ask God to raise up and develop new leaders (especially elders and deacons) and volunteers who would leverage their lives for God’s purposes for our church and community.
  • Pray for God to move in the hearts of our men to take spiritual initiative in their homes, in our church and in our community.
  • Pray for God’s deepening influence in the lives of our people through our Small Groups. Pray that these groups might be a catalyst for spiritual formation and a blessing to our community as they serve. Ask God to encourage  and equip new and existing group leaders, as current groups grow stronger and new groups get started.
  • Pray for God to cultivate a spirit of radical generosity among our people, as they give of their time, talents and treasure to the work of the ministry. Ask God to provide the resources our church needs to minister efficiently and effectively in our community.
