20th Anniversary Celebration

Picture of the 20th Anniversary Celebration postcard

Dear Family and Friends,

By definition, celebration means we are to honor the past and mark those special times when we experienced the power of God upon us individually and corporately. Every time we read an account of God at work or have personally experienced His work, it is a reflection of our God being on the move.

First Bible Baptist Church is a part of the body of Christ, the bride of Christ, and a congregation full of the family of God. We have been on mission together these past 20 years. We have brought the gospel as his witnesses in the Acts 1:8 model, and we have edified and exhorted one another as His word commands us to do. It is truly evident that God has moved in our community and we, as a church, are an integral part of that movement.

Our theme scripture from 1 Corinthians 2:9 states, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” There are things God has prepared for those who love him that speak of our eternal life when one day we will be with him. In addition, I believe it speaks of what the church could accomplish, while we occupy the mission field that He has given us, between now and eternity. God’s family—the FBBC family—must not become complacent regarding what God has already done. Instead we must engage the Bible in a way where we become missiological. Let us press forward and continually celebrate the handiwork of God.

My prayer is that we take the opportunity this special weekend provides to sincerely worship our gracious Father through thanksgiving. Being thankful for all that He is and all that we are in Him. This really is a celebration for the church, but more importantly, it is a challenge for each of us personally, and corporately, to fulfill what He has called us to do—striving daily to be an Acts 1:8 church.
