“Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Ladies, it’s the time we all look forward to…our annual Daughters of the King conference is here! You will not want to miss it because this year, we will be doing something a little bit different. Friday evening (April 7th) we will have dinner together then we’ll enjoy praising and worshipping the Lord with each other in song and around the word of God. On Saturday, the format will change a little bit into more of a “workshop” style where you will get to choose three different sessions to attend (two in the morning and one after lunch).
Please see below and choose one topic for each session. Please be aware that in order to keep each session balanced, there will be a maximum number of attendees for each session. Sign up today!
Ever feel like you’re riding on a roller coaster of emotions? One day, you’re confident and everything is great, and the next day your heart Is heavy with fear and doubt. Our ups and downs are very real and if not handled biblically, we could be one decision away from something we might regret. Our emotions can be very powerful, and God never intended for them to control us or to be an excuse for our ungodly behavior. In this session, we will learn through scripture that God has equipped us with his Spirit to be able to make decisions by faith rather than being led by our feelings. What are you allowing to guide you: emotions or faith?
Friendship throughout our lives is an essential part of our happiness! Friends laugh with us, cry with us, and encourage us to be the best person we can be. Or do they? Not all friendships are worth keeping. In this session, we will see that God made us to desire connection; friendship is his design! What does the Bible say about having good friends and also being a good friend?
The world has its own definition of what marriage is and how it should work. They have taken something beautiful that was designed by God and claimed it, perverting its purity. Unfortunately, when you take something that is designed to work a certain way and try to change it, inevitably, things will go wrong (think square peg; round hole). In this session, we will take a look at marriage according to the Author’s (God) design.
Children are an heritage from the Lord. The word of God tells us to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We know that newborn babies don’t come with an instruction manual and besides that, not all kids are alike anyway. One methodology for teaching or correcting may work for one child but not another. In this session, we will look through scripture
Your words: Do they cause strife or do they bring life? What kinds of things are you letting slip out of your mouth? As a daughter of the King, you represent a holy God. In this session, we will see what the Bible says about the things we say verbally and via social media. Your words matter!
Standing in Truth
These days it seems what is considered right and wrong shifts on a daily basis. Maybe you have started to question what you always held as truth. Should I recognize certain issues as right and wrong, or does that make me judgmental? Has God changed his mind about some things? In this session we will look at practical strategies and warnings straight from God’s Word that can keep us from being deceived. As daughters of the King, we can learn to look at the world through spiritual eyes and stand with confidence in God’s truth.
Proverbs 31 Woman
Time is flying! There never seems to be enough hours in the day to accomplish everything on the to-do list. The question is, why not? Where is my time going? What am I really spending it on? This session is designed to help us focus on what really matters. The virtuous woman is an example of a woman who has a busy schedule but is able to manage her time wisely, fulfilling the things that are most important.
Run, Walk & Motivate
Beginning in June, we will be offering running and walking groups for ladies through Summer.
Ladies, join us for about an hour on either Wednesday or Saturday mornings or even both! There is no cost! This is an opportunity to run and/or walk with other women at a pace in which you are comfortable. Leave the iPod at home and make it a point to get to know someone else. Feel free to bring a friend!
Wednesday mornings @ 9:30 AM – Walking group. This will begin on June 3rd.
We will offer a walking group. The walking groups are designed to encourage a brisk pace but can also ease into the brisk pace if needed.
Please note: We will meet in the church parking lot.
Saturday mornings @ 8:00 AM – Walking group & running group. This will begin on June 20th.
We will offer two different groups (running and walking). Don’t be intimidated! The running group is designed to include those who are beginning runners and have a desire to ease into running. The goal would be to extend the amount of running time each week and by the end of the summer, you will be amazed at how far you’ve come! The walking groups are designed to encourage a brisk pace but can also ease into the brisk pace if needed.
Please note: We will meet in the church parking lot.
Please talk to Jen Castilleja, Bobbie Jo Schieber, or Michelle Dobson if you have any questions.
